Features: The honey truffle, also known as the "dessert truffle," is a sweeter cousin to the typical truffle. They are found in sandy soil along the Danube River, and are very different, but still related, to the various truffle varieties of notoriety.

Species: Mattirolomyces Terfezioides

Origin: Hungary

Flavor Profile: Slightly mushroomy at first but develops into a very sweet, honey-like finish.

Spec: Typically used in desserts, the honey truffle adds a wonderful dimension to nearly any dessert. Its flavor is very strong and should be used sparingly.

Season: Late summer to mid-fall, typically August to October.
